Carpet Overlocking

Yes, we operate strictly by appointment only. To ensure we can provide an accurate quote and confirm that your specific carpet is suitable for our specialised equipment, we require all customers to contact us first (using our custom quote form is preferred). Please note that we do not offer a walk-in service. Qualifying the job in advance allows us to provide an upfront price, clear timeframe and arrange a dedicated drop-off time that fits your schedule - ensuring a smooth and efficient process for everyone.

We specialise in mats, runners, and small-to-medium rugs; our workshop is specifically geared for pieces up to 3m x 2m. While we can handle longer lengths for runners, rugs exceeding the 3m x 2m mark are generally not suited to our setup at this time. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to accommodate pieces that only slightly exceed these dimensions, depending strictly on the carpet’s type, weight, and thickness. Please note that a specialised handling fee applies to oversized pieces to ensure the highest quality finish.

Every mat, rug and runner is custom overlocked to your specifications, so pricing depends on the size, shape and requirements of each project.

For eligible doormats and small mats, you can use our Instant Estimate & Quote Tool to receive an estimated price in under 30 seconds. If you'd like to proceed, simply submit your quote request and we'll confirm the final price, availability and arrange a convenient drop-off time.

For larger mats, rugs, runners and custom projects, simply enter your measurements into the same tool. If your project is outside our instant estimate size range, we'll automatically guide you through our personalised quote process.

All quotes include any required cutting or straightening, overlocking and materials.

Please note: All overlocking services have a minimum charge of $70.

Unfortunately, carpet must be new or "near new" condition (such as under one year old), as older carpet can be harmful to our overlocking machines. For example, we cannot overlock older second-hand carpet, previously installed / used carpet, or carpet that has been stored for a period of time (even if unused). Please note that all carpet is inspected upon arrival, and we reserve the right to decline any job if the material does not meet our safety and condition requirements. We're happy to discuss your carpet further to confirm if it will be suitable.

Our standard turnaround time for overlocking projects is typically a few business days to a week, though this can vary depending on our current workload. We'll always provide you with an estimate at the time of your enquiry. While we understand that some projects are time-sensitive, we assess all urgent requests on a case-by-case basis and will do our best to accommodate your needs without compromising the schedule of our current projects.

Measure the shortest width and shortest length of your carpet, rather than the longest points. This allows for any uneven edges and helps ensure we can achieve your desired finished size after trimming and straightening.

If you're planning multiple mats from one piece of carpet, remember to:

• Leave a few centimetres around the outside edges for trimming and straightening,

• Leave a few centimetres between each mat for cutting and finishing, Measure using the shortest width and shortest length of each mat.
  

Allowing these small buffers gives us enough room to produce neatly finished mats at your requested sizes. Without them, we may need to reduce the finished size slightly to achieve a straight, professional result.

Our standard process is for customers to drop off their carpet and collect the finished piece(s) once complete - please note that we are strictly by appointment only. While we can occasionally discuss pickup and/or delivery for unique circumstances, a premium service fee applies and availability is limited based on location and the size of the piece(s).

Yes, you can absolutely suggest the color you'd like.

Typically, we match the edging color to the carpet color as closely as possible for a seamless, professional finish. We have a large selection of yarn and wool to choose from.

In cases where we can't find a perfect match, we'll discuss the best options with you before we begin the overlocking process.

We currently do not offer carpet joining.

Our primary focus is on crafting custom mats, rugs, and runners from brand new standard carpet, such as offcuts from a recent installation or freshly purchased carpet. We can occasionally resize existing items, but this is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Whether we can assist depends on the item's age, size, condition, and material. Working on used/old or brittle pieces unfortunately risks damaging our overlocking machines, so we cannot assist with those projects.
